Sourcing Hospital Supplies (Advisory Board Council)
Mental model + user journey for users prepping an open bid for hospital supplies
Replaced a complicatedC spreadsheet with an easy to scan web app that alerts users to potential errors in the bidding process.
Problem
Staff were spending weeks gathering and organizing bids for hospital supplies, which was repetitive, time consuming, and a waste of resources. Staff needed to analyze the final bids to determine the best offers, but the set up was wasting their time.
Solution
Built an end-to-end solution to allowing staff to define supply categories and bid dates, and collect and organize bids from suppliers. The system flagged potential errors and and sorted bids, ready for staff to analyze.
Success metrics:
Staff could request bids and identify errors in hours instead of weeks.
Responsibilities
Interviewed users
Contextual inquiries
Created mental models
Design software
User tested and iterated on solutions
Worked with project managers, developers and QA to incrementally build solutions in order to build most important features first, and roll out other "nice-to-have" features
